Founder Services
Alaska Resources Library & Information Services (ARLIS) provides information in person and around the world through its website, online document servers, and international library networks. ARLIS offers comprehensive library services and convenient access to the staff of its founding and contributing agencies. As well as the core services offered by ARLIS, Founders are entitled to the following services:
Reference Services
Reference service in person, or via phone or email.
ARLIS Catalog Search
The Alaska Library Catalog is freely available to all users. The catalog includes the holdings of 87 Alaska libraries. After the initial search, results may be limited to the ARLIS collection.
Materials Checkout
Most books, reports and other materials are available to be checked out for four weeks with unlimited renewals. Founders may also check out reserve materials.
Database Access
Access to nearly 50 electronic databases (from any device), including:
- Fish & Fisheries Worldwide
- Wildlife & Ecology Worldwide
- Arctic & Antarctic Resources
- Water Resources Abstracts
Journal Access
ARLIS currently has 50,000+ journals that Founders may access from any device. On-site users also have access to ARLIS’s paper journal collection. The A-Z list of journals is available on our website under “Resources.” When searching the library catalog, keep in mind not all journal titles are cataloged.
ILL & Document Delivery
ARLIS Founders are entitled to:
- Electronic delivery of articles
- Document delivery of materials in the ARLIS collection
- Online interlibrary loan delivery (ILLiad) for items not held by ARLIS
Courier Service
Weekly courier service to agencies in Anchorage and mail-out service to remote locations.
Free Parking
Free parking with an ARLIS parking code.
Expert Research Assistance
Expert assistance with your research topic and production of customized bibliographies.

The Scree has been a monthly publication of the Mountaineering Club of Alaska since 1958. Many MCA climbers, hikers, and skiers have written hundreds of stories and route descriptions on local, state, and world wide areas. Access is provided to Founders only via the ARLIS Document Server.
