2024HBO

Video file     Video recording with multiple viewing options.

Libraries: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO) -- YouTube (free on Internet).   Video duration: 27 minutes, 53 seconds.

May 5, 2024: Public Libraries -- Max (HBO) website (streaming subscription fee is required).   Video duration: 39 minutes.

An episode of the late-night talk and satire television program (Season 11, Episode 10):   Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

This episode, hosted by John Oliver, was originally broadcast on May 5, 2024, on the cable TV networks HBO and Max, and was later posted on the "LastWeekTonight" channel on YouTube on May 9, 2024.

Part of the original 2015 CNN video about ARLIS (listed above under 2015) is excerpted in this episode devoted to public libraries and the current crisis dealing with censorship, accusing librarians of peddling pornography, threats to end library funding, etc.   It would seem ARLIS is featured to illustrate how special and useful libraries can be.   The episode begins with the segment about ARLIS followed by brief comment on that video.   The host closes the episode with a comical suggested reference to ARLIS.   Note: During the closing credits, there is footage from the room in ARLIS where the furs, skulls, skins, and bird mounts used to be housed; this can be viewed through the HBO streamed version.

Warning: This program uses explicit language.
