Summary:Soon before the close of public comment on the draft environmental impact statement for the Alaska LNG project, the Matanuska-Susitna Borough filed a motion with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission calling on FERC to prepare a supplemental Draft EIS with an adequate analysis of Port MacKenzie as a potential site for the gas liquefaction plant and marine terminal. The Kenai Peninsula Borough is defending Nikiski as the preferred site. The City of Valdez has also criticized the Draft EIS. Trustees for Alaska has also asked FERC to extend the comment deadline. Meanwhile, has submitted 295 pages of information to FERC on September 25.
