Description
Summary:Baseline data will be collected on aquatic furbearers to enable assessment of potential effects of the proposed Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project. The study will include a mercury assessment. This information on beavers, river otters, mink, and muskrats will be used to develop appropriate mitigation measures. The study areas vary by species, but will encompass streams, riparian areas, and wetlands. Primarily, the study will focus on the Susitna River and river valley between Talkeetna and the confluence of the Oshetna River, a buffer zone around the inundation zone, and the access road and transmission-line corridors that reach Chulitna and the Denali Highway (continuing to Cantwell). This draft document details Alaska Energy Authority's status in implementing the study as set forth in the FERC-approved Revised study plan.
