520 |a The goal of this study is to collect baseline data on aquatic furbearers in the study area to enable assessment of potential Project-related impacts. This information will be used to develop appropriate mitigation measures. The beaver is the most prominent aquatic furbearer statewide in terms of ecological and economic importance. Other aquatic furbearers in the Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project area include river otter, mink, and muskrat. The study areas vary by species; primarily, the study will focus on the Susitna River and the valley between Talkeetna and the confluence of the Oshetna River and the area along the Project corridors north along Deadman Creek to the Denali Highway.
