Description
Summary:This report examines existing information describing the socioeconomic, recreation, air quality, and transportation conditions in the Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project area, located in the upper Susitna River basin, as proposed by the Alaska Energy Authority. Potential "gaps" in the existing data are identified that help inform the National Environmental Policy Act scoping and study planning activities conducted as part of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission licensing process for the proposed Project. The purpose of this data gap analysis is to evaluate available information for its relevance and applicability to the proposed Project. Actual information needs will be determined when a more refined description of Project facilities, operations, and construction activities is developed. The data reviewed for this analysis are contained in selected documents developed as part of the original Susitna Project licensing effort in the early 1980s, along with more recent, readily available reports.
