520 |a The draft environmental impact statement (released June 28, 2019) for the Alaska LNG Project cites substantial adverse effects on migrating caribou and on six endangered or threatened wildlife species (spectacled eider, polar bear, and marine mammals) as well as on some areas of permafrost and wetlands unless certain steps are taken and construction and operation. Much of the report covers wildlife habitat and protecting permafrost and wetlands. The Draft EIS rejects Port Mackenzie as terminal site, and it considers worker camp impacts, effects on tourism, economic aspects, and noise at the Nikiski facilities. Many recommendations are scattered throughout the report and at the end, and requests that Alaska Gasline Development Corporation submit revised plans on certain issues.
