520 | |a In November 2018, the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC) filed information packages to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on the Alaska LNG Project’s draft environmental impact statement (EIS). AGDC listed a variety of problems with the Port MacKenzie site, which the Matanuska-Susitna Borough calls the optimal site, for the LNG terminal. A brief summary of previous LNG projects in Alaska is provided. The filings explain AGDC's decision to use direct microtunneling instead of horizontal directional drilling (HDD); provide a list of all water crossings; detail the Cook Inlet crossing; describe possible health effects on Alaskans (including subsistence and nutrition) and community impacts; and discuss invasive species, use of gravel fill, geohazards, effects caused by future climate change (particularly in regards to permafrost and soils), the Parks Highway, water well testing, and pile driving. | ||
