Summary:This report describes the Alaska Energy Authority's progress in the Geology and soils characterization study during 2014 and early 2015 being conducted for the proposed Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project. The purpose of the study is to define existing geological conditions at the dam site, reservoir, and access and transmission corridors; to develop design criteria to support the engineering feasibility studies; and to provide baseline spatial data for the various related studies for the Project. The study area includes the dam site area, reservoir area, construction material sources, tailwater downstream of the dam, access road and transmission line corridors, airport facilities, and construction camp and permanent village sites.
