Summary:This report inventories and analyzes information on fish and wildlife in the Tanana Basin area to be used in the regional planning process. This fish and wildlife element report is one part of a resource inventory of seven resources also including forestry, agriculture, minerals, outdoor recreation, water, and settelement (land disposals). Phase I of the Tanana Basin Area Plan consists of all seven parts of the resource inventory. Phase II evaluates a set of alternative scenarios for the management of state land in the Tanana Basin. Phase III is the final plan that allocates state owned land in the Tanana Basin to different uses and will provide management guidelines for each use or comination of uses. This report is part of "Phase I, resource inventory" of the Tanana Basin area plan, although this is not stated on the item as it is on all six of the other natural resource reports.

This fish and wildlife element report represents the contribution of the Department of Fish and Game to the pool of information to be used in making land allocation decisions under the Tanana Basin area plan. The first two chapters were produced by the Department of Natural Resources' Tanana Basin staff, and have been included here after review and comment by the Department of Fish and Game. Chapters 3 through 9 are products of the Department of Fish and Game.
