A study site was conducted on the Caribou-Poker Creeks Research Watershed located 30 miles north of Fairbanks, Alaska in the Fairbanks North Star Borough. Three plots were on a permafrost-free upland site, and two plots were on a permafrost-dominated slope. The plot sizes ranged from 450 to 2250 square feet.
