520 | |a Operations of the proposed Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project would likely affect the abundance and distribution of benthic algae and benthic macroinvertebrate populations in the Susitna River, which could ultimately affect fish growth and productivity in the freshwater ecosystem. The goal of Study 9.8 (to be submitted as part of the license application) is to collect baseline data to assist in evaluating the effects of Project-induced changes in flow and the interrelated environmental factors (temperature, substrate, water quality) upon the benthic macroinvertebrate and algal communities in the middle and lower Susitna River. One sampling station is located on the Talkeetna River. This technical memorandum provides a preliminary review and summary of laboratory results of samples collected during the 2013 field collection. Bioenergetic models show growth and consumption rates of juvenile chinook and coho salmon. | ||
