Summary:This report describes the objects, methods, and activities being conducted in a geology and soils study is being conducted for the proposed Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project. The purpose of the study is to define existing geological conditions at the dam site, reservoir, and access and transmission corridors; to develop design criteria to ensure that the proposed Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project facilities and structures will be safe and adequate to fulfill their functions; to evaluate the potential effects of Project construction and operation; to develop mitigation measures; and to acquire data to support design of the Project. The study area includes the dam site area, reservoir area, construction material sources, tailwater downstream of the dam, access road and transmission line corridors, airport facilities, and construction camp and permanent village sites. This document reports on Alaska Energy Authority's status in implementing the study and on how results are being achieved.
