500 | |a This sypnosis provides preliminary results of the August 2011 fish inventory in the upper Susitna River subbasin. This project was later described in detail in a report encompassing the full inventory. That report was: Fish inventory and anadromous cataloging in the Susitna River, Matanuska River, and Knik River basins, 2003 and 2011 / by Jonathan M. Kirsch and Joseph D. Buckwalter and Daniel J. Reed. (Fishery data series ; no. 14-04). However, that report does not contain a list of species found at electrofished reaches in the upper Susitna River subbasin (Table 2) and 14 maps (plus index map) of the subbasin that are included in this synopsis.

520 | |a A baseline inventory of fish distribution (with an emphasis on anadromous fishes) was undertaken in the upper Susitna River basin as part of the Alaska Freshwater Fish Inventory (AFFI) program. Mainstem rivers, intermediate streams, and headwater streams throughout the basin were surveyed August 3-16, 2011, and in addition, a helicopter survey was conducted on July 27-28 for recording adult salmon upstream of Devil Canyon. Each station report includes station description, water quality, streamflow, stream channel, riparian vegetation communities, fish observations (species, life stage, life history, count, measurements, sampling method), and instruments. The primary fish-collection gear type used was single-pass electrofishing.
