Clarke of the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) sent a letter to Jane Drennan of Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro requesting certain information on the Susitna Hydroelectric Project as part of the project licensing steps. The information requested covers energy alternatives to the proposed hydroelectric project described in the earlier March 5 response. The request involves: cost estimates for the Nenana power plant; heat rate and costs for gas-fired units; costs for coal, combined-cycle, and gas-fired turbine plants; OGP-6 input and output; breakdown of transmission costs for the OGP-6 thermal alternative costs; explanation of costs associated with the Nenana and Beluga coal plants; material and installation costs for the transmission station for the Beluga coal plant; OGP-6 model source code modifications and algorithms; and energy from the Watana and Devil Canyon developments for the Case E-VI alternative flow regimes.
