Summary:For the Watana Dam on the Susitna River, the option of a roller-compacted concrete (RCC) dam has been suggested for consideration. The consultants developed a conceptual design and performed concept level cost estimates for a RCC dam at the Watana and Devil Canyon sites as described in the report "Susitna RCC dam cost evaluation : final" dated November 16, 2009. This report is considered an addendum that that report. In addition, this report explores the advantages and disadvantages of an underground versus surface powerhouse, and transportation options utilizing updated information on railroad costs in conjunction with "rail only" surface transport to the project.
