Description
Summary:The proposed Susitna Hydroelectric Project will potentially affect lodge operators who rely in some way on the natural resources in the area. This study was conducted to create an inventory and profile of lodge operators in this area, to determine the economic importance of the lodge operations to lodge owners, and to obtain information from lodge operators about hunting, fishing, and other recreation activities in the area to supplement and corroborate terrestrial, aquatic, and recreation data for the area. The study was conducted by a survey of lodges along the Denali Highway, around Lake Louise, along the Parks Highway between Healy and the Talkeetna Spur Road, and around Talkeetna. Fly-in lodges within the Susitna Hydroelectric Project study area were also included. Interviews were conducted between August 23 and September 1, 1984. Only eleven of 38 lodges were able to give full interviews.
