Description
Summary:Operations of the proposed Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project would likely affect the abundance and distribution of benthic algae and benthic macroinvertebrate populations, which could ultimately affect fish growth and productivity in the freshwater ecosystem. The chief goal of this study is to collect baseline data to assist in evaluating the effects of Project-induced changes in flow and the interrelated environmental factors (temperature, substrate, water quality) upon the benthic macroinvertebrate and algal communities in the middle and lower Susitna River. This document gives a general description of the study, its purpose, methods, and its relationship to other studies.
