520 |a As part of the preparation for construction of the Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project, the stability of Project facilities need to be accessed for flood loading conditions. The general objectives of this probable maximum flood (PMF) study: (1) develop a site-specific probable maximum precipitation to be used for the derivation of the PMF including both a temporal and spatial distribution of rainfall; (2) model the runoff through the project drainage basin to produce the PMF inflow, including snowmelt considerations for the Project reservoir; (3) route the PMF inflow through the Project to obtain the PMF outflow and maximum flood elevation at the dam; and (4) use the Board of Consultants for technical review during development and performance of the site-specific studies. Geology and soils will be considered only to the extent that they affect flood runoff. Structural aspects of facilities will not be included in the PMF study.
