Description
Summary:The overall goals of the riparian vegetation study are to prepare baseline maps of local-scale riparian ecosystems (riparian ecotypes), wetlands, and wildlife habitat types in areas downstream from the proposed Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project dam site; characterize sedimentation, vegetation succession, and vegetation-soil-landscape relationships; and coordinate with the development of the Riparian Instream Flow Study and other closely related studies to provide complimentary data products to support the development of a spatially-explicit model to predict potential changes to downstream riparian floodplain vegetation due to Project modifications of flow, sedimentation, groundwater, and ice processes. The study area will encompass riparian areas downstream of the dam site to river mile 75.
