Rishel Mineral Information Center

ARLIS is New Hosting Agency for Digital and Print Collections from the John Rishel Mineral Information Center

In 2007, the John Rishel Mineral Information Center (JRMIC) closed. JRMIC was located on Mayflower Island in Douglas, Alaska. The Bureau of Land Management transferred many of the printed and scanned collections housed at the JRMIC to the Alaska Resources Library and Information Services (ARLIS).

Questions about the Mineral Assessment Program, Mineral Assessment Studies files, Mineral Availability System, Alaskan publications of the former U.S. Bureau of Mines, and other subjects related to the JRMIC should be directed to the ARLIS reference desk: reference@arlis.org, 907 27-ARLIS (272-7547).

To restore access to the published and unpublished reports and maps from JRMIC, in PDF and JPG format, ARLIS posted several hundred pages and files from the former JRMIC website with minimal editing. Some of the former JRMIC pages still retain logos and links related to JRMIC.

The ARLIS Management Team acknowledges the role of the Bureau of Land Management, and the former librarians of the John Rishel Mineral Information Center, in making these collections available through ARLIS.
