General Characteristics
- Postorbital process broad and projecting at nearly
right angles to the longitudinal axis of the skull
- Compared to M. caligata:
- Angular process relatively short, not extending much beyond the articular process
- Rostrum relatively long
- Postorbital width relatively greater
- Tympanic bulla length relatively greater
- Zygomatic arches rapidly diverge posteriorally and tend to become more rounded
- Elevation of occiput viewed in profile lower
- Fur softer, not harsh
- Lips black
