General Characteristics

• Postorbital process broad and projecting at nearly
  right angles to the longitudinal axis of the skull
• Compared to M. caligata:
  • Angular process relatively short, not extending much beyond the articular process
  • Rostrum relatively long
  • Postorbital width relatively greater
  • Tympanic bulla length relatively greater
  • Zygomatic arches rapidly diverge posteriorally and tend to become more rounded
  • Elevation of occiput viewed in profile lower
• Fur softer, not harsh
• Lips black
