The Survey-Inventory Management Reports For Plains Bison By the Alaska Division of Wildlife Conservation

The reports available on this webpage are records of the survey and inventory management activities for bison in Alaska.   This webpage lists reports with the title words "Survey-Inventory" covering all management units published within a single document for the reporting period.   Publication of these reports started in 1989.

Note that the title of this serial has changed several times.   In particular, the word "plains" was added before "bison" on reports released in 2015 and afterwards in order to differentiate reports about plains bison and wood bison.   The series title to which the reports belong has changed several times as well.

The "Bison" Reports

*   Pages 26-27 were originally omitted during printing of the 1989/1991 issue.   Pages 25-28 are superseded by replacement pages.

**   The online version has a title page that was not included in the original November 2000 printing.   That title page has the title Bison management report of survey-inventory activities, Federal Aid In Wildlife Restoration.   Moreover, the coverage periods overlap between the 1997/2000 and 1999/2001 issues.

Bison management report.

The 1999/2001 issue for bison was published twice in November 2002.   One printing, Bison Management Report, names Carole Healy as publications specialist on page [2] of cover, lists grants W-27-4 and 5, has a small map on page [3] of cover, has series "Federal aid annual performance report" on page 1, has page numbering ending with 56 (a blank page), and has a color photograph on the back cover.   The sections on the Copper River herd and the Chitina River herd were inadvertently switched from the intended order (in that printing the Chitina River herd is on page 1).   The other printing, Bison Management Report of Survey-Inventory Activities, names Carole Healy as editor, lists grants W-27-3 and 4, has a large map on page [i], has series "Species management report" on the header of each of the four Game Management Unit chapter pages, has page numbering ending with 54, and a different back cover that includes a black-and-white photograph.   In this printing the Cooper River herd is on page 1.

Note that the coverage periods overlap between the 1997/2000 and 1999/2001 issues.
