Supplemental Information for 16061-2-1983

Background:  Office of Coast Survey's Historical Map & Chart Collection covers the land and waters of the United States of America, including territories and possessions (past and present).  Collection contents are diverse as a result of a rescue effort that began in 1995 to digitally preserve NOAA’s historical assets that were housed in an old printing facility in Riverdale, MD.  The rescue effort concluded in 2004 and hard copies of those documents are available at the National Archives.  Today, NOAA continues scanning efforts with partners such as the Library of Congress to fill holes in the Collection and ensure that the best digital copy of our maps and charts are available.

Over this 15+ year scanning project, information about each chart/map was manually recorded and transferred to a database with limited quality control.  We strongly recommend that you visually verify the accuracy of the supplemental information provided by comparing it against the scanned document.
