TaxonTree provides a graphical way to interact with taxonomic names. It requires Java 1.5, which can be downloaded from the Java website. Follow the instructions for your operating system. (Macintosh support currently requires OS X 10.4 and the Java 1.5 developer release.)

To run TaxonTree, click on the Find in TaxonTree link and select OK to open a Java webstart (JNLP) file. Then, select Yes to trust the signed application distributed by "University of Maryland."
