Items donated to ARLIS will be examined to determine suitability for inclusion in the ARLIS collection.  Selection criteria for a particular item include but are not limited to the following factors: its subject or topic; its conformity with the ARLIS Collection Development Policy; physical condition of the gifted item and existing copies; sufficiency of copies subject to the ARLIS Acquisitions Matrix and agency needs; the currency of the information contained therein or the currency of its edition; its historic value; its intrinsic value or rarity.  ARLIS will acknowledge receipt of materials via a list supplied by the donor, but will not determine the monetary value of the donation.  ARLIS may dispose of items not selected for the collection.
